Azerbaijan participates in NATO Agile Spirit exercises in Georgia
Baku/23.08.23/Turan: International exercises of NATO countries and partners Agile Spirit 2023 began this week in Georgia with the participation of up to 3,600 military personnel from 22 countries.
The purpose of the exercises is joint actions in a combat situation. According to the scenario, the participants of the exercises should repel the invasion of Turkey. Participants must work out joint special forces operations with live firing and joint actions of military medics.
The military personnel of Georgia, USA, Turkey, Great Britain, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania and other countries will take part in the exercises.
On the American side, the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, a combat unit of the 48th Infantry Brigade, and others are participating in the exercises. It is not reported which unit is involved from Azerbaijan.
According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, the Agile Spirit 2023 exercises are aimed at improving interoperability between the Georgian Armed Forces and NATO forces. The exercises will end on September 13. ---02D---

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
