Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on Nikol Pashinyan's trip to the occupied Khankendi

Baku / 12.03.19 / Turan: The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan commented on Nikol Pashinyan"s visit to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan with the aim of participating in a meeting of the Armenian Security Council in Khankendi. "If the Prime Minister of Armenia holds an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of his country in the occupied Azerbaijani city of Khankendi, then there is no need to make efforts to involve the Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of our country in the negotiations. The Prime Minister, who voiced the idea of the "Karabakh Armenians", put an end to the word games, stating that the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh are not the "people", but the Armenian community," said the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Leyla Abdullayeva.

She stressed that the format of the negotiation process on conflict resolution, which has been going on for many years, is clear and this issue was determined by a consensus decision of the OSCE.

Thus, in the 1992 the OSCE Helsinki decision, both communities of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan were recorded as an interested sides. "As for the principles of conflict resolution, it is impossible to interpret the principles clearly stated in the OSCE Helsinki Final Act, which the co-chairs of the Minsk Group refer to in their last statement, in any distorted form. We would like to recall that in the statement of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office during The Lisbon Summit of this Organization in 1996, proposed by the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and unanimously adopted by all member states, with the exception of Armenia, clarified the principles conflict resolution. The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized that the borders cannot be discussed in any way, "Abdullayeva noted.

The time has come to take concrete steps towards the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and the return of Azerbaijani IDPs to these territories, the Azerbaijani diplomat added.

"As the Prime Minister himself stated, he won the confidence of the people of Armenia and, thus, won a full mandate. Now it"s time for him, having shown political will, to clearly demonstrate the extent to which he is interested in bringing peace and progress to the region and sustainable development. Obviously, a party interested in ensuring peace and tranquility will not occupy the territory of another state, " said Abdullayeva. -06D--
