Congress of the World Azerbaijanis (CWA) refutes accusation of the Iranian Embassy
The Congress of the World Azerbaijanis (CWA) issued a statement in response to the negative reaction of the Iranian embassy in Baku to the event, held by the CWA on December 5 "Relations between the North and South Azerbaijan: current situation, prospects and challenges".
On Friday, the Iranian Embassy issued a statement of protest, calling the CWA and its co-chairman , MP Sabir Rustamkhanli and other leaders of the organization "provocateurs."
Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the expression "South Azerbaijan" and "North Azerbaijan" - " a fraud not having any relation to the history. "
In turn, the CWA states that the conference focused on the situation of human rights in Iran, and pointed to the lack of basic rights of 35,000,000 Azerbaijanis living in Iran.
CWA also reminded that Azerbaijan was forcibly divided into two parts under the terms of the Gulistan and Turkmenchay agreements signed in 1813 and 1828 on the results of the Russian-Persian wars.
It also reminded the Democratic Republic of South Azerbaijan, created in 1945, a year after was drowned in blood by the Tehran regime with the consent of the Soviet leadership led by Stalin.
In addition, the statement by the CWA noted Iran’s attempts to incite ethnic separatism in the Iranian Azerbaijan. The CWA regardes the statement of the Iranian Embassy, as going beyond diplomatic ethics. –05D06--
