European Court of Human Rights Starts Communication on Complaint of Azerbaijani Journalists
Baku / 02.10.17 / Turan: The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) started communication on the complaints of four Azerbaijani journalists, who are banned from leaving the country.
The applicants are Aynur Elgunesh, Aitaj Ahmedova, Natig Javadli and Khadija Ismayilova. The lawyer Fariz Namazli wrote this on his Facebook page.
For Elgunesh, Ahmedova and Javadli, the exit from the country is limited due to the criminal case against Meydan.tv. Ismayilova is not released due to her conditional punishment. The Azerbaijani government must answer the questions of the ECHR before January 17.
The complaints raise questions about violations of the applicants' rights under articles 8 (right to respect for private and family life), 10 (freedom of expression), 13 (right to effective means of protection), 18 (limits on the use of restrictions on rights) of the European Convention on Human Rights , as well as article 2 (freedom of movement) of Protocol 4 of this document. -03B06-
