On Friday, the Heydar Aliyev Center opened the IV Congress of World Azerbaijanis with the participation of over 500 representatives of the Diaspora from 49 countries.
The Congress discussed issues of information propaganda, the youth strategy in the Diaspora movement, lobbyist construction, participation in the political life of their countries of residence.
President Ilham Aliyev spoke at the forum. He called the Diaspora to invest in Azerbaijan.
He pointed to a favorable environment for foreign investments, evidence of which he called 200 billion USD of investment, half of which is foreign.
Aliyev also believes the Azerbaijanis living abroad should once a year visit their families back home.
"It is also important that their relationship with the homeland is not interrupted. It is also important for the country, where there are all the conditions and infrastructure for tourism. Let everyone spend holidays at home," said Aliyev.
He believes the Diaspora should strengthen the work with the media. "This is our weak spot. It is necessary to prepare new journalistic staff globally, placing them in the international media structures.
The Diaspora should create their own newspapers, websites in the languages of the country of residence.
If Armenia is a poor country and works in this direction, we can do it, too," said Aliyev.
Recall that on the eve of the Congress, Aliyev signed a decree on the allocation of 3 million AZN to the State Committee on the Diaspora.
The first Congress of World Azerbaijanis was held on November 9-10, 2001, the second – on March 16, 2006, the third – on 5-6 July 2011. All the forums were held in Baku.
It is noteworthy that while Aliyev calls for the strengthening of work in the international media, the Congress has not invited representatives of the media popular with the Azerbaijani Diaspora – the Azerbaijani services of Radio Liberty, The Voice of America, and BBC. -03B06-

Armenia is not against the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, but does not consider it appropriate to discuss this issue now. "In the context of peace, we consider it possible to make a decision on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. On August 31, Azerbaijan observes a "day of silence" before the Sunday’s early parliamentary elections for the unicameral Milli Majlis. All electoral campaigning is prohibited 24 hours before the voting. The early elections were initiated by the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party. On August 30, at approximately 22:55, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant in Metsamor was disconnected from the country's power grid, as reported by the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. The shutdown was caused by a lightning strike, which triggered the plant's safety systems to switch the station to a safe shutdown mode. Currently, the plant's staff is working on restarting the facility.
