National Council Appoints Protest Rally on September 28
Baku / 09/14/19 / Turan: The National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) has appointed a rally on September 28 demanding the holding of democratic elections, the release of political prisoners, and the solution of social problems. This was stated by Ali Karimli, a member of the NCDF coordination center, leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA).
According to him, the NCDF on September 13 sent a notice to the Baku Executive Power about its intention to hold a rally.
The action is held with the requirements of creating conditions for normal democratic elections, resolving the Karabakh problem, releasing political prisoners, restoring child benefits, applying for health insurance, issuing property certificates to owners of houses and apartments who do not have such documents, and canceling the limit on the use of electricity and natural gas.
The NCDF proposed that the city administration coordinate the rally in one of three places: the square in front of the May 28 metro station, the square in front of the Tofig Bahramov stadium and the square in front of Narimanov Park.
Karimli criticized the Azerbaijani authorities for "inept policies" to solve the Karabakh problem. "The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan comes to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Yerevan pursues a settlement policy on these lands and builds roads. Pashinyan in Karabakh says that the region belongs to Armenia, while the Azerbaijani authorities seem to be blind to this. They are limited to statements at the level of an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Where are the leaders of this country - the President, the Vice President, or the Prime Minister?" Karimli said.
According to Karimli, the country is likely to hold early presidential and parliamentary elections and even a change of power is possible. However, in his opinion, changes in the country should be carried out only through democratic elections. "We will not allow a change of power in the country in an undemocratic way," Karimli said.
