
Police Violence against Women Journalists
Baku / 12.02.20 / Turan: During the night dispersal of the protest rally in front of the CEC, the police special forces rudely treated not only candidates, but also a large group of journalists. So, police officers grabbed and threw women journalists at buses, some of whom were injured, like Ainur Elgunesh, who was beaten up.
Also detained were: freelancer Aytach Taptyg, Sevindzh Vagifgyzy - Meydan TV (a serious hand injury and a bruise on his face), Ulviya Guliyeva and Aigun Rashidova - Voice of America.
All detainees were subjected to forced detention and were injured to varying degrees. Cameras were taken from them, preventing them from shooting.
Among the detainees was also Basta.info website editor Mustafa Hajibeyli, who was put in a separate car and severely beaten.
All the detainees were driven around the outskirts for about two hours, and at midnight they were released in the “20th settlement” away from the highway.
Three journalists, including Khadija Ismayilova, were detained and thrown to the ground at the moment when they arrived after the bus with their detained colleagues.
Note that in front of the CEC building, several more journalists were subjected to violence, who nevertheless managed to escape and escape at the time of the dispersal of the rally. -02B-

President Ilham Aliyev approved the Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in transit cargo transportation along the "North-South" international transport corridor (ITC) on February 11, 2025.
