Program and Composition of ODIHR Mission to Azerbaijan
Baku/29.08.13/Turan : The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights ( ODIHR) has announced the program and the composition of its monitoring mission for the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, October 9, 2013.
The mission is led by Tana de Zulueta from Italy. It also includes the assistant to the head of the mission, Harald Hartvig Jepsen, from Denmark, the Russian political analyst, Vadim Zhdanovich, the Spanish analyst for elections, Adolfo Cayuso Martinez, the Moldavian analyst, Paul Chabacheno, the American analyst, Megan McCabe Fitzgerald, the German media analyst, Elma Sehalic, the coordinator of long-term observers from Serbia, Masha Yanushevich, etc.
The headquarters of the mission of 13 international experts led by de Zulueta will be located in Baku. Another 30 long-term observers will arrive on September 9. On September 11, they will be divided into regions.
On October 5, 280 short-term observers will arrive.
On October 7, they will be distributed to the districts, and on 9 October, they will monitor the voting stations and tabulation of their results.
The day after the elections, the ODIHR OSCE will hold a press conference and announce the initial results of its observers. On October 11, the short-term observers will leave the country and on October 15, the long-term ones will leave.
OSCE / ODIHR has monitored eight elections in Azerbaijan since 1995, including the last presidential election in 2008. -16D06 -
