A member of the Board  of NIDA Movement, Turgut Gambar, was detained for several hours in the City Main Police Department of Baku, after having been arrested in front of the Baku Court of Appeal. "I was not told the reasons for detention, but was asked much about  Elgiz Qahraman ( the NIDA activist, was arrested  on August 12 on charges of drug trafficking), that is why we support him. They asked why we "are against the state," said Gambar.  Eventually, he was told that if it continues, then the next time he will be  arrested. "In fact, I was threatened with arrest,"  said Gambar, adding that he did not commit illegal acts. "We just stood in front of the Appeal Court, pending the decision of the fate of our friend, as it usually happens in all trials of activists," said Gambar.-06D-

Today, around 12 a.m., the activist of NIDA Turgut Gambar was detained near the Baku Court of Appeal by a group of people in civilian clothes who identified themselves as employees of Baku Main Police Office. They said that Turgut should go with them, because "there are a number of questions to him." The Board member of NIDA Ulvi Hasanli  told Turan.

According to him, Gambar was in front of the Court of Appeal in connection with the trial of the NIDA activist Elgiz Gahramanov arrested on  August 12 on charges of drug trafficking.

Later, these same persons detained the photographer Ismi Shahzadeh and withdrew the mobile phone from the journalist Islam Shikhali, when he was preparing a report. The police drove activists who gathered in front of the court away.

Turan’s efforts to get comments from the Metropolitan Police failed. Note that Turgut Gambar is the son of the former head of the party Musavat Isa Gambar.   -16 / 03B-
