Journalist Detained and Promised to Consider His Complaints
Baku / 05/19/19 / Turan: Detained on Saturday for holding a single protest in front of the Ministry of Health, the journalist Teymur Karimov was released after some time.
The journalist protested against the paid treatment of his mother suffering from blood cancer in the Republican Hospital. According to him, for the treatment that the clinic should provide at public expense, they took money from him.
Left without funds, the journalist announced that he was selling his old clothes in order to pay for the treatment with the money. However, he was detained and taken to the Nasimi district police department, where he was asked about the reasons for the action.
"Later they promised me that on Monday they would take me to the Ministry of Health. They also said that the prosecutor"s office would consider my complaint. After that, they let me go," the journalist said. -21B06-
