Press Review 14.08.17

Evaluation of the social activities of the authorities, the inability to exit the population from the austerity regime, and staff problems are the leading topics of today's press.

The Azerbaijan reports on the successful implementation of social programs by the country's leadership.

40.3% of the state budget consisted of socially-directed funds. As an important detail, the author notes the construction of social housing.

The Echo published an article titled: "The population of Azerbaijan spends less and the business suffers more and more".

Despite the fact that in the two quarters of 2017 there was an increase in the social and economic life of the population, Azerbaijani citizens have not changed the austerity model of behavior to the consumer one.

The government of Azerbaijan forecasts average annual inflation at the level of 7.3% for 2017. The average annual inflation at the end of 2016 was 12.4%.

According to official figures, imports have fallen by almost 28%. Significantly reduced imports indicate bad signals to the economy. Indirectly it means that people stopped buying.

The Novoye Vremya published an article on the shortage of personnel. Only 15% of the working-age population of the country has higher education compared to 22% in Europe (European Union).

Another 15% of Azerbaijani citizens have a secondary special education (technical schools, colleges and vocational schools). The remaining 70% have secondary education (full or incomplete).

The author of the article also stresses the quality of the staff.--0-----
