Search for external enemies - battered and stupid tactics of the authorities
Ali Hasanov, the ideologist of the authorities who disappeared from the screens, reappeared on AzTV on Sunday evening.
In his traditional style, he gave a tedious lecture to the audience on the "intrigues of anti-Azerbaijani forces", who staged a rally in the capital.
Without citing any arguments or facts, Hasanov, along with the director of AzTV, Rovshan Mammadov, acted as prosecutors and judges, accusing the opposition of betraying national interests and working for the country's enemies. Such stupid and rather boring statements would not be worth attention if it were not for the appearance in the pro-government media of "evidence" of the West"s hands.
The talk is about deciphering a telephone conversation of one of the activists of the National Council Gultakin Hajibeyli with an employee of the American embassy. After the detention of the leader of the Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli, on October 19, Hajibeyli called the embassy, reporting what had happened. The authorities decided to use this fact as "irrefutable evidence" by spreading the information into the controlled media, and published a full transcript of the conversation.
However, no one got the idea that the authorities confirm wiretapping of foreign diplomats, and make it public!
In this case, is it right to mention "brain" at all? Apparently, some sort of gray matter cells are still there (probably at the molecular level), because after a few hours from the sites of these media the transcript of the conversation disappeared.
Then appeared a statement by the head of the Foreign Ministry"s press service, which struck the audience with the phrases: "Police officers treated the participants politely and culturally, no one was hurt" and "the information of the EU representative about the detention of dozens of people is untrue". This statement was made the police recognized the detention of 60 people, and shots of harsh mass detentions, including women and elderly people, spread around the world.
It is difficult to disagree with the statement of the authorities that they are seriously engaged in the training of young and promising personnel.

My brother Jahangir Hajiyev has been in prison for eight and a half years, having a bouquet of severe chronic diseases. For eight years we have been trying to get the penitentiary service to provide him with minimal medical care and medical supervision. During these years he has repeatedly had exacerbations of his heart, blood pressure, hypertensive crises, exacerbations of his hormonal and immune systems, and pancreatic attacks. One time he was even called for an ambulance. Despite our repeated appeals, he is denied transfer to the central medical centre and the sanitary unit in the colony itself.

Azerbaijan has spent much of the past half-year thumbing its nose at the United States and European Union over Western criticism of Baku’s authoritarian political practices. But it appears the West has at least one weapon in its arsenal capable of getting Azerbaijani leaders’ attention.

Aliyev dwelled on the expanding North-South trade route – in which Azerbaijan serves as a hub for commerce connecting India, Iran and Russia – saying it had “global significance for cargo transportation and security.”

In honor of the holy month of Ramadan, I appeal to you with a plea for help and justice. Nine years have passed since the actions of our enemies plunged our family into darkness, depriving us of happiness and peace. Today they are trying to deprive our brother and me of our last home. This egregious act not only violates the laws of our country, but also ignores the fundamental right to housing, a principle that is supported throughout the world. It is important to note that the property in question was acquired in the 1990s, long before my brother Jahangir Hajiyev took up his position at the International Bank of Azerbaijan.
