The first operation of Vilayat Eyvazov with the rank of minister
Baku / 28.06.19 / Turan: The new Interior Minister, Vilayat Eyvazov, who received the rank of Colonel-General the day before, successfully disrupted a fundraising marathon for families of political prisoners.
The rally was held at the headquarters of the Musavat party, but was thwarted by the intervention of reinforced police squads.
The police officers who arrived at the building actually stole the leader of the Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli, and took them to the police station. Then the police entered the building, demanded to stop the marathon, and brought all who were in the building to the street.
As soon as this happened, the pro-government media were quick to announce that the court had arrested Ali Kerimli for organizing an "illegal event".
It should be noted that members of the National Council of Democratic Forces and leaders of a number of opposition parties took part in the marathon. Some of them went to the Binagadi police, and the rest contacted foreign embassies, informing about the detention of Karimli.
After an hour and a half after the detention, Kerimli was released and the reports of his arrest were not confirmed by a court decision.
In his comments, Kerimli noted that the authorities are frightened by any manifestation of the organization of the opposition and simply by the public. "They strive to prevent people from coming closer together and their organization. Therefore, they seek to intimidate people, and do not let them unite. However, we are not afraid of this and we will not give up support for the families of political prisoners. " -02B-
