Turkmenistan expands raw material stock to deliver gas to Iran
The gas compressor station has been opened on Keymir field, Balakan province on the west of Turkmenistan, from which natural gas will be delivered to the Turkmenistan-Iran gas pipeline.
“The gas compressor station will pump about 1 billion cub.m. of natural gas to the gas collecting point on the Keymir field, from which it will be pumped to the Turkmenistan-Iran pipeline,” reads the statement of Turkmenistan President Gurbagulu Berdymohammadov addressed to the participants ot the opening ceremony.
The project will increase pressure of associated gas in oil for its pumping to the gas pipeline.
The statement says that “launching of the object will allow collecting associated gas, which for many years was burnt causing damage to environment, in one spot. Then pressure of the collected associated gas will be increased to supply the oil wells on Keymir and Akpatlavuk fields.”
Turkmennebit has been working to develop fields located onshore and Northern Goturdepe field on the Caspian Sea coast. Among the perspective directions are development of new fields, which include Chekishler, Garadurun, Southern Gamyshlyja and Nebitlije located on the west of the country.
The specialists claim that Altyguyi field, where new beds have been discovered, is very perspective.
“The energy strategy of the Turkmenistan government, the priority of which is diversification of the routes of energy resources transportation and their safety, opens wide possibilities for geological and exploration works on the oil and gas fields and industrial refining of hydrocarbons,” added Turkmenistan President in his address;.
It has been earlier reported that Global International Engineering has been working on the project by order of the state-run concern Turkmennebit.
The delivery of Turkmenistan gas to Iran started after launching of Korpeje-Gutguyu gas pipeline in 1995. In 2009 two neighboring countries opened additional capacities on the Dovletabad-Serakhs route.
The branch on the territory of Iran from Serakhs to Sangbast settlement via Khangeran was opened in November 2010.
Iran and Turkmenistan earlier reported that they have been negotiating to increase Turkmenistan gas deliveries to Iran.—0—
