Ways of Increasing Transparency of Government Purchases Discussed
Baku / 09.29.17 / Turan: The issues of increasing public control over public procurement, expanding knowledge of local entrepreneurs during procurement procedures were discussed during the roundtable held by the anti-corruption NGO Transparency-Azerbaijan on September 28.
Experts of this organization Elvin Yusifli and Ayten Alizamanli made reports on the results of a study on the problem of ensuring public control over public procurements and recommendations prepared in this regard. A booklet What Entrepreneurs Should Know in Public Procurement was presented.
The round table was attended by representatives of the State Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection Service, the Financial Markets Supervision Authority, the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, and other governmental and non-governmental bodies.
The event was organized within the framework of the project Increasing Transparency of Public Procurement - one of the components of the program Promotion of Human Rights, Democratization and Better Governance in Azerbaijan. The program is implemented by the Eurasian Cooperation Fund with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. ----08D

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
