Azerbaijani and Iranian border guards strengthen contacts
Baku / 11.12.18 / Turan: Iran"s Frontier Commander Gacem Rezai took part in a meeting of the heads of the Azerbaijani and Iranian border guards in Baku on Tuesday.
In his speech, he said that with the increase in transit at the border terminals of the two countries, cooperation between the border of Iran and Azerbaijan is also expanding.
According to the agreement between the two countries, the border summit is held once a year in Tehran or Baku, Rezai said. In addition to the joint meeting of border guards and discussions, bilateral issues, Rezai was received by President Ilham Aliyev, Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov and Interior Minister Ramil Usubov.
The parties stressed the importance of developing relations in the border regions and the exchange of information.
According to Rezai, the increase in transit reinforces the need for closer interaction between the border forces of the two countries and the management of this movement, the IRNA agency quotes Rezai.
Rezai arrived in Baku on an official visit today at the invitation of the head of the State Border Service Elchin Guliyev.
