Father of Sergeant Sued Prosecutor’s Office in Yevlakh
Ali Osmanli, father of the soldier Tahir Osmanli, claiming torture in Yevlakh region police department, has sued the district Prosecutor's Office because of the refusal to initiate criminal proceedings. Turan was told by the head of the public association Legal Education of Sumgait Youth Elchin Mammadov, providing legal assistance to the victim.
According to him, the soldier was slandered by a neighbor who complained about him to the police. The sergeant was taken directly from the military unit and was severely beaten by the police.
“Another military man living together with Osmanli in a rented apartment lost 1,650 manat in August. Then he accused Osmanli of theft and complained to the police. Osmanli was brutally beaten by two officers - Captain and Major. The soldier was seriously injured - they broke his ribs,” said the human rights activist, and presented pictures with signs of violence on the body of the Sgt.
Despite the complaint of the victim, the police are against any measures taken. His parents complained to the district Prosecutor's Office in Yevlakh and the Interior Ministry, but to no avail.
The Deputy Prosecutor of the Yevlakh region refused to initiate criminal proceedings, although in fact there is a conclusion of forensic medical examination, that the Sergeant’s body has traces of violence, and their origin coincides in time with the presence in the police precinct.
