Candidature of Baku Presented for Holding Expo-2025
Baku / 15.11.17 / Turan: A reception was held in the Pavilion Royal in Paris on the nomination of Baku as a candidate city for holding the Expo-2025 World Exhibition of the International Exhibition Bureau in 2025.
The First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, spoke on behalf of the Azerbaijani government.
"Our country has been located at the confluence of continents and civilizations for centuries. Azerbaijan, located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, plays the role of trade, political and cultural bridge between East and West, North and South," the First Vice-President said.
She offered to hold the World Exhibition of 2025 in Baku on the theme Development of Human Capital, Construction of Better Future.
"We believe that the following will be of great importance at the exhibition Baku Expo 2025: to look beyond technology, redirecting attention from the leaders to ordinary citizens, to concentrate it on people who are the leading force of economies, societies and creativity," the First Vice-President continued.
If the proposal of Azerbaijan is adopted, Baku will become the first city in the whole of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus region and the Caspian Basin, hosting the World Exhibition.
Along with Baku, Yekaterinburg (Russia), Osaka (Japan) and Paris (France) have nominated their candidatures for the World Exhibition Expo 2025. -06D--
