Gubad Ibadoglu excluded from the "Musavat"
Member of the Board of the party "Musavat" Gubad Ibadoglu was excluded from the organization. This decision was made after denouncing the activities of Ibadoghlu at the 8th II Congress of the "Musavat". Reasons for exclusion was a violation by Ibadoglu "the fundamental principles of the party, and the provisions of the statute" in the period after the Party Congress in September 2014. Ibadoglu was a candidate for the head of "Musavat" at the 8th Congress, but by secret ballot with minimal difference was elected Arif Hajili.
Ibadoglu did not dispute the results of voting, but questioned the integrity of the process of nomination of delegates that determined the results of elections. After the Congress Ibadoglu founded the Movement for Democracy and Prosperity, which included many Musavat members who do not agree with the decisions of the Congress. The leadership of "Musavat" regarded it as an attempt to split the party.
After the congress, the conflicting parties accused each other in the media and social networks.
Exclusion Ibadoglu provoked a mixed reaction in the "Musavat". Thus, a party member, the head of the Center for Monitoring of political prisoners, Elshan Hasanov, is strongly against "this unreasonable decision." According to the statute, meetings are held once a week, and everyone can participate as an observer. This time the meeting was closed to the press and observers only for one reason - to exclude Ibadoglu from the party. "Our organization is fighting for democratic values, against
violations of human rights, and we will defend the rights of Ibadoglu from authoritarian leadership of the party," said in a statement Hasanov. Ibadoglu is a member of the Musavat party for more than 20 years, and he is a famous civil rights activist and a leading expert economist.
Another former candidate for the post of the head of "Musavat", Tural Abbasli, called the decision to exclude Ibadoglu "mistaken and wrong."
Ibadoglu himself called his exclusion "erroneous, unfounded and registered."
He noted that the party had already eliminated many members and this process continues. A Committee to protect the rights of excluded has been set up, and the struggle for their rights will continue, he said. -05D-
