During yesterday’s session of the Cabinet of Ministers President Ilham Aliyev called the Azerbaijani army the strongest in the world.
“I would like to mention another significant event of the last quarter, which is the military parade. The parade has shown strength of the Azerbaijani army. We have demonstrated the latest models of weapons, ammunitions and armored vehicles at the parade. The helicopters, tanks, armored vehicles, artillery units, anti-air defense installations and others have again showed that the Azerbaijani army is among the strongest armies in the world.”
“Armenia was concerned about the parade. It know that Armenia still have a feeling of hysteria, panic and fear. It has seen the power of Azerbaijan and once again realized that we are ready for any variant. With the purchased military technique, we are able to destroy any enemy. As I said during the parade, we can speak with the enemy in any language. In addition to all political and diplomatic efforts, our military power will play a key role in the solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
We will keep on building our military power and we will keep on purchasing modern military equipment. You know, we have no problem with the purchase of weapons. We buy weapons from different countries and we also manufacture them in Azerbaijan. The number of countries wishing to cooperate with us in the military field grows. The press writes that Azerbaijan bought weapons worth $1 billion from one country and worth $1.6 billion from other countries. It can say that these figures do not reflect reality. In fact our military cooperation is measured by figures, which are much higher, than those stated.
We simply do not disclose these figures. We just comment on the information, which is from time to time published in foreign press. But we can publish all information, because our state budget is transparent and all our expenses are open.
Armenian people should not be afraid of that. Armenian people should be afraid of their own government. They should be scared of corrupt criminal authorities, which makes them live the way they do now. For this reason every year about 100,000 Armenians leave the country forever. If the situation continues, in 5-6 years the Armenian population will be less than 1 million and this is the fault of the Armenian government. Its aggressive policy and blood-thirsty nature has brought Armenia to this catastrophe. We are moving forward. Azerbaijan is a strong state. Our strength will keep on growing. We need to work harder to make it even stronger,” concluded Aliyev.—0—

Adalyat Verdiyev, the head of the civil defense staff at the public legal entity Center for Public Health and Reform under the Ministry of Health, and a military expert, has been arrested. On November 22, during a media tour to the liberated territories, Verdiyev filmed and published information and images on his social media accounts revealing Azerbaijani Armed Forces' combat positions in the heights, deployment sites, coordinates, and operational conditions of the border troops. This disclosure caused significant damage to the interests of state security and defense capability. This was stated in a report from the General Prosecutor’s Office.

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
