Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan has most rapidly developing economy in the world
At yesterday’s session of the Cabinet of Ministers President Ilham Aliyev boasted about the achievements of the country.
“Azerbaijan has the most rapidly developing economy in the world. This is a reality, which is taken into account by everybody, who specializes in the region,” Ilham Aliyev started his speech.
After his presentation on the economics of Azerbaijan, he switched to politics and urged the Muslim world to unite to fight against growing anti-Islamic sentiments.
“We are worried about some processes in the world, such as polarization and discrimination ,” he said.
He also accused “some European organization of a dirty campaign against Azerbaijan.”
“In the past ten years the campaign periodically becomes more active and then subsides. During the past year the campaign has increased. It is enough that during the past year European Parliament adopted three anti-Azerbaijani resolutions,” he said, but added that “in Azerbaijan nobody pays attention to such resolutions.”
Aliyev believes that anti-Azerbaijani and pro-Armenian forces criticize Azerbaijan, because they do not want to accept the successful development of Azerbaijan.
“Those who live in the crisis, probably, do not like the stability and good atmosphere in Azerbaijan,” Aliyev said.
He added that Azerbaijan and its friends were instrumental in the failure of the report concerning political prisoners in Azerbaijan in the Council of Europe.
An absolute majority of the PACE members rejected this “report”, defended the truth and justice and raised their voice against double standards, Aliyev said.
Speaking about the relationships with the European Union, Aliyev said his last visit to Brussels was of special importance. “We must clarify many issues. We must clarify how we are going to cooperate in the future. We need to know how interests of Azerbaijan will be safeguarded. The talks with the head of the European Union were very positive. Many issues have been clarified and a good foundation for further cooperation has been laid” he said.
Aliyev repeated several times that Azerbaijan is a self-sufficient country. “Our integration steps must be weighted - what are we doing and why,” Aliyev said.
Aliyev said that the decisions on TAP gas pipeline construction were very important and Azerbaijan plays a decisive role in that.
“The issues of energy safety cannot be solved without Azerbaijan. Our decisions are an irreplaceable contribution into the energy safety. Everybody must remember that,” he said.—0—
