Valentina Matvienko to Open Russian Culture Days in Baku
Moscow / 11.04.19 / Turan: A delegation of the Council of Federation of Russia headed by the chairwoman Valentina Matvienko arrives in Azerbaijan with an official two-day visit on April 11, the press service of the Council of Federation reported.
During the visit, talks will be held with the chairman of the Milli Majlis, Oktay Asadov. Prospects for bilateral cooperation and issues of inter-parliamentary interaction will be discussed, the report said.
"Our countries have managed to make a long way in strengthening and expanding bilateral contacts, filling them up with quality, preserving and enhancing the traditions of friendship and good-neighborliness," said Valentina Matvienko.
During the visit, she will speak at the opening ceremony of the Days of Russian Culture in Baku, and will visit cultural, sports and social infrastructure facilities of the capital.
The Russian delegation also includes the Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council, Co-Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission for Cooperation of the Parliaments of the two countries Ilyas Umakhanov, Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak, senators and heads of regional parliaments of the Astrakhan Region and Dagestan. -02D-

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
