Ilgar Mammadov is not allowed to meet with his lawyer
Baku / 09.09.17 / Turan: On Friday, September 29, in jail No.2 lawyer Fuad Agayev was not given a meeting with his client Ilgar Mammadov. According to the lawyer, after he handed his identity card, he was forced to wait about 50 minutes. Then they returned the documents, saying that the lawyer's room was occupied and recommended to come on Monday. The administration of the jail did not react to the request to give him another room for a meeting. "All this is a violation of the rights of the lawyer and Ilgar Mammadov himself, I have the right to meet with my client at any time," said the lawyer.
Turan failed to get a comment in the Penitentiary Service. It should be reminded that Ilgar Mammadov is one of the most famous political prisoners in Azerbaijan, the liberation of which is required by the Council of Europe and many international organizations. The authorities keep him behind bars despite the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. Because of this, the Council of Europe raised the issue of imposing sanctions against the government of Azerbaijan. -02D-
