The prosecutor’s office refused to file a lawsuit on the torture of a blogger
The Baku prosecutor's office refused to file a lawsuit in connection with torture of the blogger Mehman Huseynov in the Nasimi police, said the lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
According to him, the investigator Hafiz Aliyev came to the conclusion that there is not sufficient ground for a criminal case. The lawyer does not agree with the decision of the investigator, and said that it was aimed to hush up the facts of torture of the blogger in the police office. The lawyer intends to appeal the decision of the prosecutor's office.
On January 9 Huseynov was abducted by unidentified persons and only at noon on January 10 it became known that he was in the police. After the release Huseynov spoke about the torture in police custody. Nevertheless, the court sentenced him to a fine of 200 manats for "disobeying police» .- 06B-
