Three PFPA activists arrested for 30 days
Baku/26.01.19/Turan: Three activists of the Party of Popular Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) detained on January 25 in front of the Baku Serious Crimes Court were sentenced to administrative arrests.The Nasimi district court sentenced Orkhan Salimzade, Ayaz Gasimov, and Mehdi Nagiyev to 30 days in jail.Kenan Azizli and Jeyhun Arif were awarded fines for manat ($ 120).
Three more PPFA activists Khayal Aliyev, Fuad Tagizade and Mahir Rustamli were sentenced to a fine of 50 manat ($ 30).
Two more activists were released from the police after they were given a verbal warning.
Activists were detained during the trial of the accused, in the so-called case of "illegal financing of the PPFA.
The PPFA told Turan, that onJanuary 27 party activists were sentenced administratively for periods ranging from 10 to 30 days. Dozens of party members werefined.After the opposition rally on January 19, hundreds of activists were summoned to the police to warn.
The authorities do not comment on reports of arrests and other punitive measures of the PPFA activists - 06D03--
