Ankara launched a meeting of finance ministers and central bankers G20
Two-day meeting of finance ministers and central bankers G20 started in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is represented by the Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov at the invitation of the host country.
Highlights - the sides are discussing a heightened risk for global markets against the backdrop of the imminent increase in interest rates by the Federal Reserve System (FRS). According to Bloomberg, the text of the communique noted that the improving economic forecasts, the tightening of monetary policy in some developed countries is more likely, and remains one of the main sources of uncertainty in the financial markets. According to analysts, the FRS may raise borrowing costs for the first time in 9 years already at the September meeting. Meanwhile, in Europe and Japan, the leaders of the central banks have focused on further measures to support the local economy as a result of a possible rise in inflation. Tightening monetary policy in the US affected, especially emerging markets - stock index of the consolidated group for the year dropped by more than 16%.
The meeting was held in the frameworks of preparation for the summit of G20, which will be held in November in Antalya, and the Azerbaijani side will be invited. The meeting will discuss the situation in the global economy, sustainable and balanced strategy, investment and infrastructure, international financial architecture, regulation of financial markets, international taxes and other issues. --17D-
