Azerbaijani flag during a military parade in Paris
Representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces took part in the military parade in Paris on the occasion of the National Day of France - Bastille Day along with delegations from 77 countries. The special nature of this parade was due to the fact that it was one of the commemorative events to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War, said French ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Monnier during the July 14 evening reception on the occasion of the National Day of his country.
According to him, the ceremony in Paris was also attended by a delegation of Azerbaijan, headed by the bilateral economic commission chief, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov.
Monier noted the dynamic development of the bilateral relations. In the year since the previous holiday - Bastille Day Azerbaijan was visited by two delegations led by government ministers of France, and in May, there was an official visit of the French President Francois Hollande, during which they signed a number of important intergovernmental agreements.
The relations between the two countries intensified not only in the political sphere and the sphere of energy, but also the non-oil sector, the ambassador said.
Specially, the ambassador focused on the deepening ties in the cultural sphere.
In turn, the head of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova, conveying greetings and congratulations from the President of Azerbaijan, noted that Baku attaches particular importance to the partnership with France, which is one of the leading countries in the world. In addition, France as OSCE Minsk Group member is making efforts to resolve the Karabakh conflict. She also highlighted the active development of relations in the field of education and culture.
The event also exhibited the works of young Azerbaijani artists who were awarded diplomas. -06D
