Russia increases trade with Azerbaijan amid falling trade with EurAsEC (UPDATED)
Baku/09.12.19/Turan: The outgoing year was very successful for the development of Azerbaijani-Russian bilateral relations in all areas, President Ilham Aliyev said today at a meeting with Russian Minister of Economy Maxim Oreshkin.
During the summits, instructions were given to work actively on the implementation of the “roadmaps”.
During a visit of the First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to Moscow, an extension of the list of “road maps” was agreed to cover new areas.
“Multibillion investments from Russia to Azerbaijan, from Azerbaijan to Russia is an indicator, first of all, of our trust in each other, as well as of a favorable investment environment, which is improving both in Russia and in Azerbaijan. We see this in the ratings of the World Bank Doing Business and the Davos Competitiveness Forum,” Aliyev said.
The President called the opening a joint pharmaceutical enterprise in Azerbaijan a pleasant event.
"The construction of a bridge across the Samur River has been practically completed."
Aliyev also noted with satisfaction the restoration in its original form of the pavilion "Azerbaijan" at VDNH.
Oreshkin, in turn, emphasized a 30 percent increase in Russian trade with Azerbaijan against the backdrop of negative dynamics in trade and economic relations with the EurAsEC.
“In fact, one of the strongest indicators (with Azerbaijan) in general with any country. Indeed, the base may not have been so high and the first actions that we, as part of the intergovernmental commission and my colleagues, took and removed barriers, opened markets, all this allowed us to very seriously rise and show such good results,” said Oreshkin.
According to him, the parties within the framework of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission today will sign a program on agriculture. In addition, they intend to use actively the transit capabilities of the two countries.
This year, the foundation of the automobile plant was laid.
In addition, the foundation of a helicopter service plant will be laid during the current visit. –06D--
