Russia was suspended for four years from major international competitions
Baku / 09.12.19 / Turan: The Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) deprived Russia of the right to participate in major international sports tournaments for four years, including the Olympics and world championships. The decision was made unanimously at a meeting of the WADA Executive Committee in Switzerland. It was caused by large-scale doping violations in Russian sport, including attempts to amend the database of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, Radio Liberty reports.
RUSADA Russian Anti-Doping Agency has been deprived of compliance status by the WADA by decision. This means that athletes will not be able to perform at the Olympics and world championships under the flag of Russia. The WADA Executive Committee also introduced a four-year ban on visiting international sporting events by Russian civil servants and the leadership of the Russian Olympic Committee and the Paralympic Committee. Thus, Russian athletes will not be able to participate under the Russian flag in the Games in Tokyo in 2020 and in Beijing in 2022. The decision does not prohibit their participation under a neutral flag - in case they manage to prove their non-involvement in doping.
The doping scandal in Russian sports has been going on for several years. The Russian authorities deny that the doping program existed at the state level. — 06D-
