Known Lawyer Sentenced to Correctional Labor
Baku / 23.11.18 / Turan: The Binagadi District Court of Baku appointed the lawyer Aslan Ismayilov a punishment in the form of a year of correctional labor with a monthly withdrawal of 20% of his salary, finding him guilty of hooliganism. In addition, Ismayilov was appointed a fine of 1,500 manat.
The criminal case against Ismayilov was launched in October 2017. According to the verdict, Ismayilov committed hooliganism on October 2, 2017 after the Binagadi court refused to accept his suit against the head of the Modern Musavat Party, Hafiz Hajiyev. Allegedly, Ismayilov slammed the door loudly in the courthouse, breaking it, and insulted the judge and the chairman of the court.
However, Ismayilov in his last word declared falsification of the criminal case. "They want to punish me because I exposed open sale of drugs in pharmacies, illegal activities of casinos and gambling establishments in Baku, and corruption at the National Oncology Center," Ismayilov said.
He stated that the customers of his case are Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov and Assistant Head of State Ali Hasanov.
According to Ismayilov, the prosecutor's office really wanted to get him arrested. In the criminal case there is a 48-page document. All materials in it were allegedly collected in one day - October 2, which is impossible even in 48 hours. This indicates a forgery. Ismayilov said he would appeal.
Recall that on July 31, the Sabayil District Court of Baku also convicted Ismayilov and found him guilty under article 147.2 (slander about committing a serious crime) of the Criminal Code. Thus, the court partially upheld the claim of the owner of the Hamsa celebration palace, Murvat Hasanov, and sentenced Ismayilov to 1.5 years of correctional labor. During this time, 15% will be withdrawn from Ismayilov"s income in favor of the state. Ismayilov also called this case "registered". -06D--
