The official newspaper Azerbaijan writes about conducting another important international event, 42nd World Chess Olympiad, in Baku. The author quotes from the letter by President Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the Olympics, where it is noted, that Azerbaijan has recently emerged as one of the world chess centers. At the competition, which will be held from 2 to 13 September, 1,600 chess players from 176 countries will take part.

The opening ceremony was worked out by more than 400 people. Accredited at the Olympics are 248 journalists, of whom 150 are local. Every day 4-5 press conferences will be held. Azerbaijan will be represented by a men’s and a women's teams.

Azadlig writes about the arrest of the assistant chairman of the PFPA Faig Amirov, who is accused of connection with the Gulen movement, and problems in Amirov’s family after his arrest. His father said his son's arrest was groundless, since he had never been religious. He said the State Security Service, where his son has been contained from 18 August, did not accept a food parcel for him. The family of the arrested was completely dependent on him, so now they have literally nothing to live on.

Novoye Vremya has published an article entitled Ministry of Health Removes Clock Hands. It is known that in the Asan (Easy) Service centers it will be possible to undergo a full medical examination in the near future. Such services will be offered by the Republican Diagnostic Center. It is not known how much these services will cost. But given that medical analyses at this center are not cheap, it can be assumed they are unlikely to be cheaper in the service Asan.

The article also refers to bribery in medical institutions and medical malpractice, for which virtually no one is responsible.

Bizim Yol analyzes the causes of the fall of the manat. According to the renowned economist Gubad Ibadoglu, the reason should be sought in the deplorable situation of the national economy, especially in the non-oil sector, as well as the outflow of capital from the country. To earn currency, a healthy competition environment, foreign investment and reforms are required, the analyst said.

Yeni Musavat discusses the topic of mortgage loans. Experts are concerned about the reduction of supply and demand. The author quotes figures, according to which in 2015 the total amount of mortgage loans was 97,247,000 manats. Only 22 common mortgage loans were issued in the first half of 2016. For the first 6 months 236 apartments were purchased by mortgage loans.
