ADB Discussed Financing Water and Sanitation Projects in Baku
During his visit to Baku Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank Anthony Baker discussed on September 11 in Baku, the implementation and financing of projects implemented in Azerbaijan water supply and sanitation.
The Department of Public Relations of JSC Azersu told Turan that the president of the water distribution company Korkmaz Huseynov and the bank's representative commended the contribution of ADB's water infrastructure in Azerbaijan.
ADB financed jointly with the Azerbaijani government project "Water supply and sewerage services" and "Urban water supply and sanitation." These projects are carried out in Goychay, Agdash, Beylagan, Aghjabadi and Balakan regions. The size of the ADB loan for the first three areas is $ 70 million. In 2012-2013 from the state budget there was allocated 9 million manat. It is noteworthy that the government is funding the reconstruction of water supply and sanitation since 2009, and in 2009-2010 spent to this end, 13 million manat. Construction and installation work in these areas continues.
In JSC Azersu they reported that work on the Aghjabadi and Balakan districts is in the preparatory phase, although according to the NGO coalition National Budget Group (www.budget.az) in 2009-2013 to improve the water supply and sewerage system in these two areas, and Beylagan the government allocated 11 million manat.
In 2013, the government investment from the state budget for the development of water infrastructure will amount to 734.4 million manat. This is to 154.4 million manat more than last year. - 08D-
