Construction company destroys public park and library ion the Nasimi district
Two residents, representatives of a block of six five-storey houses in the Nasimi district of Baku, the 4th microdistrict, A.Iskenderova Street, appealed to Turan agency. Samira Hasanova, Muhlis Badirkhanov and his wife reported on telephone that about three years ago builders laid eyes on a large common yard between the houses. Since then, the fate of a public park with a territory of more than a hectare with tall trees, vines and even wild animals (foxes, squirrels, turtles) has been determined. The construction firms come one after another, and the last construction company MTK İGİŞ, with the consent of the district authorities of Nasimi district, felled over 100 old trees and began to destroy the library building named after Nigar Rafibeyli, placed in the center of the courtyard.
Residents emphasize that readers take the books in this library books for self-education. Instead of repairing the old library and giving new books to attract young people to reading, the authorities agreed to destroy the public temple of knowledge.
At the meeting with tenants the head of the housing department N65 and the district leadership promised to build a new park with a swimming pool in the yard, plant trees and create beautiful paths. The people rejoiced, but in vain. A little time passed and the excavators of the construction company appeared in the courtyard. Residents were indignant, realizing that they were deceived and went out into the yard, collected money, bought and planted 120 saplings in the place of felled trees. But the police and local authorities protect the interests of builders. Citizens do not care about the opinion of citizens, just as they are not interested in where the children should play, what kind of air people will breathe, and how the destruction of green spaces goes in line with the famous phrase of Heydar Aliyev about cutting trees in Baku. Some saplings bought by the residents have already been cut down, and earthworks are being carried out there.
The residents complain in writing to the presidential staff, the head of the Baku War Institute and other instances, and they refuse to send letters to the Nasimi executive authority, considering it the culprit of the destruction of the green yard. The editors received a video clip taken by a resident in this yard before the earthworks began; remaining of the cut down century-old trees and seedlings planted the other day.

On the eve of a large-scale flood approaching Baku, a disturbing incident occurred in the village of Buzovna, where a Lada Priora car fell into the ground, literally collapsing the road beneath it. The driver miraculously remained unharmed but vowed to seek justice, promising to file an official complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Azersu OJSC, the state-owned water supply and sewerage company, often associated with deeply rooted corruption.

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.
