"Musical Olympus" festival in Baku
Young musicians, winners of the prestigious international competitions in Russia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania and the United States, will present the International Festival "Musical Olympus" in Baku.
According to a press release from the festival, sent to Turan, concerts will be held on September 20, 21 and 22, 2013, in the framework of the Fifth International Festival of Uzeyir Hajibayli in the Great Hall of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall named after Muslim Magomayev.
The State Chamber Orchestra, "Musical Olympus," under the conductor Ayyub Guliyev (Azerbaijan), will accompany the young performers.
The concert will open with the American saxophonist, Ashu, who on September 20, accompanied by the Slovak orchestra, will play works by Glazunov and Astor Piazzolla.
On September 21, the Russian pianist, Barbara Nepomnyaschaya, will perform A Major by Bach, and Chopin’s Preludes twelve (№ 13-24). The Azerbaijani violinist Jamila Garayusifli will play the 5th Concerto for Violin and Orchestra (A Major) by Mozart.
The series of concert presentations will end on September 22, with a solo performance of the Lithuanian piano duet Villa Poshkute and Thomas Daukantas (Piano Duo), in which the musicians will perform a program for two pianos of works by Maurice Ravel, Tchaikovsky and Liszt.
* The Foundation "Musical Olympus" was founded in St. Petersburg in 1995. The festival is held annually in May and June in St.Petersburg. Winners of the major international music competitions in recent years are invited to participate in the festival. -02D-

On February 11, the Ritual Theatre and Creative Laboratory in Baku hosted a powerful documentary theatre performance, “The Melting Snow Stories of Baku,” marking the conclusion of a workshop dedicated to site-specific theatre. This workshop brought together 15 artists from various age groups, all exploring the transformative power of storytelling to address climate change. The event was directed by British theatre director Sebastian Harcombe of SECRET/HEART Theatre Company and Aynur Zərrintac of Ritual Theatre. It was supported by the British Council.
