US Ambassador handed a note of protest in connection with visit of Karabakh separatists to Washington
Baku / 02.11.19 / Turan: The US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lee Litzenberger, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on November 1, where he was handed a note of protest in connection with the visit of the representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh separatists Masis Mayilian to Washington, the Foreign Ministry press service reported.
The note said that the issuance of visas by US authorities to separatists undermines the peace process to resolve the Karabakh conflict and the permission for such visits contradicts US obligations as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, as well as international law.
The American side was informed that the United States would refrain from any steps that could have a negative impact on the resolution of the conflict.
In turn, Ambassador Litzenberger said that some members of Congress received guests from Nagorno-Karabakh in Washington, and stressed that the United States does not recognize the regime in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Foreign Ministry said. -02D-
