"Azerbaijan" publishing house terminated the lease agreement with "Gundem heber"
Baku / 06.02.18 / Turan: "Azerbaijan" Publishing House unilaterally canceled the lease on February 6 with the editorial office of the newspaper "Gundem heber". Thus, the editorial staff suddenly appeared on the street.
Shirin Jafarli, the founder and editor-in-chief of this critical newspaper, which comes out with a circulation of 2,000 copies, told Turan that he had not received notification of the termination of the lease and had been notified overnight.
According to the editor, a formal reason was a debt to the publisher at a rate of 800 manats.
"Debts for 8 years of our stay at the publishing house periodically arose, but we extinguished them." The reason for unilateral termination cannot be accepted by us, as it is of a political nature," he said, noting that the publisher has a lot of debtors-tenants, none of whom on the street does not throw out.
According to Jafarli, the reason for the cancellation of the agreement was an article criticizing the presidential assistant on public and political issues, Ali Hasanov, published on February 5 "Gundem heber".
The publishing house is subordinate to the Presidential Administration and only from there could a demand for my punishment come, the editor said.
Shirin Jafarli is periodically persecuted. The Board of the Press Council, under the control of the government, brought it to the so-called "black list", he was arrested, sentenced to deprivation of liberty conditionally, fined. -0-
