Opposition Appoints March 31 Rally against Early Elections
Baku / 16.03.18 / Turan: As of March 31, a joint meeting was held in Baku against extraordinary presidential elections. This was stated by the member of the Coordinating Council of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF), Chairman of the Popular Front Party (PFPA) Ali Kerimli.
The rally is scheduled for 15:00 at the stadium Mahsul.
According to him, the rally will be held under the slogans: "Free elections!", "No corruption!", "No monarchy!", "Freedom to political prisoners!".
"March 31 marks the 100th anniversary of the March pogroms in Azerbaijan, committed by Armenian armed detachments against the Azerbaijani population. Therefore, at the rally there will be slogans against the Armenian terror and calls of the international community to assess the genocide of Azerbaijanis, Kerimli said.
In his turn, the head of the NCDF, Jamil Hasanli, informed Turan that the organizers sent a notice of the rally to the Baku Mayor's office today.
The application was signed by the members of the NCDF, PFPA and the Musavat Party.
The authorities have not yet responded to the appeal.
Earlier on March 10, the opposition had already held a rally against early elections and corruption.
* In March-April 1918, the Bolshevik government of the Baku Council of People's Commissars led by Stepan Shaumyan, using armed detachments of the Armenian Dashnaktsutyun party, massacred the Azerbaijani population of Baku and several counties of Azerbaijan. In all, about 30 thousand people were killed. -03B06--
