Ophthalmology Services from Azercell
The mobile eye clinic - one of the unique projects of the market leader of mobile technology in Azerbaijan, Azercell Telecom, this year has also carried out prevention of eye diseases among children deprived of parental care, to organize their full examination, and to provide services for older people and low-income families.
According to the mobile operator, from June 1, 2011, when the project was launched, more than 2 thousand children have been able to take advantage of its services. Examination and treatment is carried out in the framework of the organization of Caspian Compassion Project. This initiative of Azercell has become so successful that other companies have also started to implement projects related to the organization of mobile medical examination.
Only in the last 7 months of this year in the framework of Azercell there were examined 455 people: 305 children and 150 adults. At the same time, for 7 months the clinic treated 56 children and 31 adults. In March, the Mobile Eye Clinic doctors assisted 91 patients in Specialized Boarding School № 5 for children with disabilities, and the Children's Village - SOS for orphans. In April the clinic specialists visited the social rehabilitation of the public association Duygu, Youth Association of the social integration of graduates of boarding schools in Baku and Children's Center Gunarzi in Agjabadi. 105 people were examined during these visits. During May-August the clinic doctors also visited a number of social institutions in Baku and in the regions. During the visits to the Shaki, Oguz and Agsu regions hundreds of people with disabilities, from low-income families, refugees and displaced persons were examined for free. 184 people were treated then.
During these months, the mobile eye clinic also provided aid to refugees and people with disabilities living in Sumgait, Khirdalan and Masazir.
For the 4 years of its activities the clinic has visited a large number of boarding schools and orphanages in Baku. This successful project of Azercell will continue to provide its assistance to the most needy segments of the population during the autumn and winter months. --17D-

The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has taken a significant step towards a unified global response to climate change. On the first day of discussions in Baku, participating countries reached a historic agreement on the rules governing the creation and trade of carbon credits. This decision paves the way for the launch of multibillion-dollar carbon credit markets, to be overseen by the United Nations, potentially as soon as next year.
